*your hair needs to be about 3 inches long in order to put any extensions in. The reason why you need that length of hair is so that your dreads dont fall out that easily. Having a little bit of hair keeps them securely in place*
Single-looped Dreads
Single-Looped dreads are dreads that have a tiny loop at the top for extending them to your natural hair. This is how i make my own dreads, I feel that they are not as heavy, and being single ended it's a lot easier for you to put the dreads in a ponytail or pigtails, just like you would with your real hair!
Here
is a short tutorial on how to install dreads with a 3-way braid
Double-Ended Dreads
Double-Ended dreads are actually one long piece of hair folded into two. These are great for when you want a full-head of dreads because where there should be one there is actually two!

Dread-Falls
The even more temporary solution to having dreads. These are made so that they wrap around your own hair. Putting these on is not at all complicated. You can wrap your hair in a bun and simply tie the dread-falls over it.
Effects*
There are some cool effects you can add to your dreads:
Transitional is when there is a gradation of 2 or more colors and Candy-Cane Swirls are swirls in the dreads that of course resemble a candy-cane
